hopefully u guys hav already heard about this. gilad shalit is an israeli soldier who was captured by hamas almost 4 years ago and his parent are doing all they can to free him. think about how hard it must be knowing someone u love, your son or ur brother is suffering for so long and u have no control over it.
there have been a few negotiations with hamas over his freedom but they all failed so far. inorder to free him hamas is asking to free hundreds of prisoners who are in the israeli prison for commiting terrorist activities. freeing is a big risk to take but on the other hand we can save this guys life who did nothing wrong, he served his country like he should!
its a very big israeli issues that i think jews around the world should at least know about.
what do u think?

( plus if anyone wants to orgenize something that will support his freedom like a rally or something that would b very nice! post some ideas as well! )

I just got this email from from JRC-NY:

As many of you are aware, Friday, June 25th marks the 4th year of Gilad Shalit's captivity. Let him know you care.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY) will bring your message, along with thousands of others, to the International Committee of the Red Cross and demand that Hamas allow the ICRC to visit and deliver the notes to Gilad in accordance with international humanitarian law. Since he was abducted in 2006 all such requests have been denied. We cannot remain silent in the face of Hamas’ cruel violation of Gilad’s human rights!

Send your message here:

http://jcrcny.org/gilad/messagetogilad.html (If this doesn't automatically take you to the website, please copy and paste the link into your internet browser window.)

We will also be sending a copy of your messages to Noam and Aviva Shalit.

For additional resources on Gilad Shalit, please visit http://www.jcrcny.org/gilad. (If this doesn't automatically take you to the website, please copy and paste the link your internet browser window.)

As issues arise, the JCRC-NY will continue to provide you with meaningful opportunities to digitally engage with issues affecting Israel and the Jewish community at large.

Me too. My old school does all these programs about him and sent stuff to congresspeople re helping release him - obviously not successful yet, but if we keep davening for Gilad ben Aviva who knows what can happen?

I plan on joining tzahal next summer, and as for all the soldiers, I honor their commitment and bravery. Shalit is stuck in the worst position, because he is neither dead nor living. His hope is waning, and his strength deteriorating. But his support is growing, and the demands for his release are becoming more powerful. I think we should stop at no bounds to get him released... but to release hundreds of terrorists would lead to another kidnapping and more of the same. I think we need to get the international scene to cry out until hamas is so looked down upon, they release him. In fact, thats the only way to do it. I pray for his safety and speedy return.
