As my memory sucks and I usually forget my own birthday (unless I'm dreading it), I rarely remember Mother's Day or my mom's birthday until reminded. My mom and I were watching an episode of The Middle about Mother's Day, and my mom was getting upset about how I never remember Mother's Day or her birthday. I now feel like total garbage, since she does everything for me, and I feel dumb that I can't even remember two dates on the calendar for her. Her birthday passed already and Mother's Day is long gone, but do you think I should do something for her to make up for it?

I would just make the next birthday/mother's day awesome. My mom's birthday sometimes falls on Mother's Day, so I always get her something really nice to celebrate both.
Good luck remembering it! You should get a calendar to mark everything and remember it.

YES! i recently realized, after giving my mom a gift, HOW IMMENSELY parents love getting gifts from their kids. think of it- parenting means constant giving, and im sure it would feel heavenly to get a gift in return thta shows appreciation. i think its an incredible idea for you to make up for last years mothers day and birthday, and to mark your calendar!!!
its true that the reason that you forget is NOT because u dont love your mom, but rather it is because you just dont have a good memory. but that doesnt mean that thats how your mother perceives it. she, being human, may interpret your failure to remember as something much worse than the actual reason. so should you get angry at her for misinterpreting? no. its not her fault. we all misinterpret stuff. but im sure it cant hurt for you to explain that its just because u have a bad memory. but actions speak louder than words, so i htink you should just go with the gifts. and include a card- thats the most important part.

So do you think I should do something for her before Mother's Day/her next birthday?
