I think the idea of being so strict with the external links is either counter-productive or useless, can someone tell me what was wrong with posting a link to a site to help people hurt in last weeks tsunami?

Hi Other! Good question. As explained in our "Rules for the Road" there are certain things that we can't allow on the site. These rules also hold true for content contained on websites linked to from the TheLockers.net. Even if the page mentioned in a post is permissible, we cannot guarantee that all the links on the page lead to equally appropriate places. It would be impossible for us to scan every single webpage that is mentioned in a post as well as all the links on that page for prohibited content.

other, while LOC is right-on about our general guidelines, there are always extenuating circumstances where exceptions can be considered. in general, there's no way we can take on the responsibility of defending the universe of content that is out there on the web to the jewish community, on top of defending the content here on TheLockers.net (which is a constant battle...). but if there's a site u think is solid which helps out victims of the tsunami crisis, send it to me (Shu@TheLockers.net) and i'll personally review it and link it up if its cool.
