Hey guys this is my first time using this website.
Ive got a question, has anyone ever heard of something called AntiCulture?
I think its called Ace for short.
I heard about it the other day and I was wondering if I was the only person who never knew about it.
It was really interesting actually.
I was told that its a way of life, like punk or goth, except that its against all culture, not just our parents culture. Like teenagers today are all 'against authority', but half of them are only that way because theyre conforming to the standard of how a teenager is excpected to act by his peers- non conformist. It sorta opened my eyes to the fact that all these counterculture kids are really conformists. AntiCulture is supposed to be against that. I think its that if you wanna dress prep, or crazy, or normally, or if you wana listen to pop or punk or rock, or if you wana be into sports, or drugs, or computers, you can do watever you want without worrying about whats cool or not. Just be yourself. I think thats the message.
I thought it was a rly awesome idea.
SO anyways, has anyone ever heard of it?

no matter what the group is there will always be the people screaming "posers!" there. there is no such thing as a group where everyone just accepts each other. unless you count the hippies. its against human nature to be like everyone is cool for doing their own thing. listen to what you want, wear what you want, it would never work. there is always someone to exclude or yell about. even being anti non-conformity is conforming. everything is conforming. its all been done and its not original. being anti-preppy or non-conformist is the cool thing now with pop-punk bands hitting mainstream and everything. and being anti that idea is also the same. your just trying to be anti what is cool. and thats conforming again in its self. i go to concerts and listen to music cuz it makes me happy and i have fun. yea some people are obvious "posers" but i know someone somewhere feels the same way about me.

Neva heard of it either, but it definatly seems strange. I mean, if you really don't like to conform, you don't need a group to help you, then you're conforming to the group. Like, if you want to be an individual, you don't start a group called the individualists, you listen to what you want and respond. Plus, you can never not conform to anything because in this day and age of drugs, sex and violence, the hardest, most non-conformist thing to do is to be a polite nice person. But this group sounds more of like an "anarchy" thing. I might check it out.

yea but if too many people join this "cult" or "group" or wtvr u call it, then eventually certain people will be doing the same things in that group, and therefore conforming. and everyone in that group would be conforming too by nonconforming to anything else. but then if for example i like Cold (a band) and other people also do, and im in that group, then im conforming with other people and therefore cannot be part of that group, even though im doing what i want to do! and then if you say that people like me who would be doing it because they like to would be allowed in the group because it isnt really "conforming", then the whole group is really nonrealistic, and will never truly be in existence, since the "posers" will just say that they really DO like the band (or whatever else the case would be, clothing, music, food, etc.), and become part of the group because its "cool" not to care about what other people think, and therefore the whole group will be made up of alot of "posers" too. and since the whole group is pretty much "antiposer", it will be contradicting itself, and not really exist...
so if you understood what i said, then u know why the group is not able to exist, and if you dont understand what i said, then im sorry, but i tried to make it as clear as possible.

I guess youre right. I never thoght of that. Shame, and it seemed like acer would be so good too! I never thought id want to be an anarchist....
Oyyy im so confused!
I guess it all comes down to the fact that im sick of the way "popularity" and stuff works. Imean dont get me wrong im pretty popular, but i also am good at computers. and i get labeled nerd for that even though im not. im a normal person. i have loads of friends and everyone likes me. but im still not the popular kid and idont care bc usually being popular means being mean to other people. id rather be the not so popular, but not loser, friendly person i am now then any popular ***, like a few i know.
