It was pretty much smooth sailing until this year. I go to an extremely academic yeshiva in nyc a good student with good marks. But with the start of this 10th gr. year, it was like all hell broke loose. My rebbe is very old school, he doesn't understand why anyone would want to do anything besides for learn torah all day. He doesn't understand that nobody shares his views. As a result my grades took a big dip. In addition, he has this hang up about getting to shacharis exactly on time every morning, which I find very hard to do. So basically, as polar opposites we hate each other's guts, (and on certain occasions he let me know it too) and I thought ok, tough luck, bad year and hoped for a better year next year. He however is upset that I don't accomplish anything in his class so he went to the principal who in turn offered me, a perfectly capable student till now, an ultimatum. Either I get fantastic grades and show up to davening early every day, or don't come back next year. So I basically am in a dilemma, unsure of whether or not I want to stay in this place next year, and if ill feel like a charity case if they 'let' me back in, all because my rebbe this year and I don't get along. What do you guys say?

Difficult situation. I think what it boils down to is whether or not you think next year and the year after would be a positive experience from you. You are physically capable of getting your butt out of bed fifteen minutes earlier and getting to davening on time, and if you just try to work hard in this rebbe's class and ignore whatever he says that you disagree with, you can do well. It's just that do you want to?

It's a sticky situation. Do you want to leave? Other than this situation, are you happy there?
