i get up around 6:00am and i get home at around 6:30pm (obviously not on fridays) and plus when i have sports practice, i get home later.
now im home, its 6:30, dinner time
eat dinner for 45 min (the length of a normal lunch period on school)
next- homework- we all have 10-12 subjects and to tell you the truth i could review every single one. but our school rules is as follows
i can have all this to do in one night, any given night:
20 min of homework from each teacher x11= 220min= about 3:45
2 tests= a good study for a hard subject can be an hour and 1/2= 3:00
11 quizs in each subject= about 15 min for each minimal= 2:45
total= 8 hours and 50 min almost 9 hours of work
now, ovcourse we dont get that but why is our school rules that we can?

yep - its a real problem. some people have it worse, if they travel far, and some only are 10 mins away from school, but either way, the double curriculum day is poorly structured. Not to get into how we dont even do anything in some classes, but whenever i or anyone brings this up to teachers/admins, they acknowlesge but thats how jewish plus general studies are.
basically what im trying to say is that obviously, all students recognize and are suffering because of the long days, but somehow all the people who can do something about it are not.

using the word suffering here.....HAHAHAHAHA......wow you must have a pretty damn good life to consider having your parents pay for you to go to yeshiva AND pay taxes for public schools to consider a long school day suffering......and digital messiag use common sense....you cant get 9 hours of homework for one night.....and if you do then i say you should quit join the army after highschool...and besides im sure you have some rich relative you can suck up to and get a good job sitting around and getting payed 500k to do nothing. what are you going to do next complain about school lunch.....school lunch is the most underated underapreciated thing in all of the yeshiva world....im not going to mention which school i go to but me and my group of friends run to the cafetiria on thursdays for the chicken nuggets....people say the food sucks...so its not gourmet good....WHO CARES.....stop being so selfish and eat what is given to you.....and then dont complain you didnt eat because there was perfectly good food at lunch......you guys should be more apreciative...

Lol, on days when I have yearbook (I'm editor in chief) I'm in school from 7:45 to 9:00 - over 13 hours!! it gets to be a little ridiculous. All this college stuff has also really cut into my time...I get the decision within the next two weeks....nail biting time

kiyara

StarryEyes
12-14-2003, 04:55 PM
:o i dont know how i did it last year, but i somehow functioned with 5 to 6 hours of sleep in my blood EVERY NIGHT... i dont know why, but for some reason it hasnt been working for me this year, and i end up CRAVING sleep, i think im just horrible at time management but i just cant deal with this sleep deprivation anymore.

are you trying to encourage drugs here? because thats not what this post is about.
Bongo_Dude
12-15-2003, 07:09 PM
ditto - any advocation (if thats a word) of drugs is a problem - thats what makes the drug issue so widespread. I'm not gonna tell you not to do it, you can make ur own choice. However, please try not to spread it.

ahh to be a kid again with a bed time of 6:00. i remmber when i was much younger i hated sleeping, i always was whining about staying up, now i wish i could sleep. HEY SKOOLS MAYBE WERE NOT GETTING SUCH GREAT GRADES CAUSE WERE NOT SLEEPING!

bluegreen, i'm totally live and let live. i wouldn't advocate anything. i was just observing what i see -- many of my peers are relying on things like speed to function! why, you haven't observed that among your circles? i didn't think it was so uncommon...
personally, i hate the pressure, and i hate that some of us are making dangerous decisions in order to function in the short run. i hate that the community talks and talks about the academic pressure we are under, but never EVER does anything to relieve us!!!
I hate that i'm 16, and already a nerotic, stressed out, headcase with no patinece or emotional reserves!!! i really wonder if our parents and schools are doing it for us, or if they are doing it to make themselves feel good for how much they are stuffing into us -- because i look around, and i don't see too many teens who are enjoying this or are happy on the inside...

as of now i havent gone to sleep in 48 hours because i havnt felt like it.....i hope you all suffer from not sleeping because i dont.....i do it purposely because i have more important things to do than sleep....like play video games and listen to music and watch captain planet at 5:30 AM......and also why is heart an earth element in captain planet...thats such bs heart cant do anything....they should kill off the kid and his monkey because heart BLOWS

i dont care how much you hate whatever u hate, or who u know does drugs, it doesnt justify advocating it. even if u werent advocating it, and ur just being "live and let live", when u talk about drugs (especially on these forums when ppl dont really know ur just "observing" as you call it) then you should be very careful about your choice of words.
"Can anyone say 'speed'???"
is not a good choice of words. thats all, end of discussion. just be careful next time you dont want anyone ACCIDENTALLY getting the wrong idea.
and no, i dont have anyone in "my circles" thats does speed (or any drugs for that matter). i choose my friends wisely.

omg i thin u should be banned from the forums...
"i hope you all suffer from not sleeping because i dont"
wtf r u saying? especially not on these forums, where the point is to help people, not to flame people or wish something bad on them. congratulations, u just managed to piss me off.
and how is video games more important than sleep? maybe i would understand up to 1 or 2 hrs of sleep, but u still need ur other 6. (i only get 3, so im assuming based on you). and then captain planet at 530 am? good job you little 12 year old, you have no morals, no idea what these forums are for, and no priorities.
now that i think about it, what u said was even worse.... i said something on monday morning on the way to school, and something terrible happened that fell into that category but not what i was intending... i dont want to go into more detail than that, but watch what you say. if you dont then i hope you get banned.

BlueGreen - they have a right to say what they want - just ignore it if you know that a specific person is annoying you. I agree with your sentiments, but on the other hand people have a right to express themselves.

watch what i say?! i hate to tell you buddy but i have just as much of a right to be mean as you do to be nice....just because im not a rich sissy american wuss doesnt mean i dont have as much of a right to free speach as you do....the point of these forums is not to help people its for teens to voice their opinions....i happen to have a negative opinion....if that pisses you off then your gonna have a big reality check when you grow up....once you go to the real world nobody cares how you feel or if your angry because you pour your heart and soul into your job but faceless massive corporations spit on you and dont give you a raise....nobody cares....your just one person.....why should i not write negative statement because you dont like them.....give me an insentive....and dissing captain planet....when some mutated rat offeres you drugs your not gonna know how to resist.....anyways peace out...peace blows....war out.....all your base are belong to us

wow, there you go again.
a) im not a rich american sissy. 10 points for supersaiyan3! in fact, my family has trouble with money. but keep talking as if u know what ur talking about.
b)the point of these forums IS to help people. if someone here needs help, flaming them, or in any way suggesting something that wouldnt help them, completely defeats the purpose fo the forum.
otherwise why would there be the emergency #'s put up.
c) "when some mutated rat offeres you drugs your not gonna know how to resist" umm rite we have mutated rats walking around offering me drugs. and if any1 offered me drugs i wouldnt know how to resist, b/c i dont watch captain planet. riiiight.
d) the people in these forums DO care.

Ok guys calm down - the point is to help people, and u guys are fragmenting this site. I understand that u both don't agree on a lot of things (and I don't agree with almost everyone on something or other), but don't let that trigger the negative in you. Just stay calm and work together. And, please don't shoot the messenger

I'm not one to butt in on a conversation that's doing well on it's own, but I would like to just throw in two or three things here.
1 - The purpose of this site both is and is not to help teens. It is a place to vent freely which can be tremendously satisfying. Especially because the person you're talking to can't talk back. But it is not in itself a counseling center or anything. It's like you come here to calm down and read about other people's problems so you don't feel so bad or so you can try to help them (because we all know so much about other people's problems . . . ) You come here because you have something to say. And to see what other people have to say, no matter what it is.
2 - I have written about this in another blog and was expecting a lot of negative response, but I didn't get it (I haven't been there in a while but still). If someone says something that directly insults you or bothers you, the big question is "So what?" BGM - you've made a lot of valuable contributions to this site. Why do you care what somebody who watches captain planet thinks or says at all, especially when it's about you? Even if you have a self esteem problem, something's just should not bother people the way they do. It is NOT a big deal.
3 - (for BD - I'm sorry dude, I just can't help myself from arguing with you, don't worry, it's only out of respect) You guys - BGM and SS - do not have to be friends. You do not have to like each other or work together. You do have to grow up. That doesn't mean thinking you're grown up or mature, it means recognizing how far you have to go. I know 40 year old children, even 50 year old children. It's depressing. Your comments about the real world, super, sound like anything you get from a commercial or one of those dumb girl shows like Gilmore Girls or ER or something. It could even be a direct quote. Instead of being so sure about the "real world" which you have never been in (assuming you're a student and not a 40 year old child with nothing better to do than come here) you have a little humility. And BGM, like I said before, you shouldn't let comments from someone u don't know (and even most of those u do know) bother you. Give your ego a rest.
PS Yeah, I know, you can all write back to me that I have an ego problem for writing this in the first place. How perceptive. the fact is something is right no matter where it comes for or who says it. If it's right, it's right.

lol raist, I'm not offended. You've argued with me many times in the past, and it had never seemed malicious. You make a good point, one which I hadnt thought of. Still, people need to calm down a little bit

TheBlueGreenMystery

the reason im offended is because im trying to help other people with their prblems, and at the same time trying to take my mind of my problems (probably why i still havent retyped them) and SS just came in and ruined it all. but for what? why? he didnt have to. the point is, he did. if you want to call me a child for it, fine, go ahead. but as long as you dont go and destroy what i had hoped to accomplish.
