i am not sure i believe in a lot of what tradiational judaism says god can do, but i recongnize that there is a creator of the world- and you know what ----he did a pretty good job!
i want to acknowledege that in tfilla, or something-- but does anyone think it's wrong if i just skip over the verses about rebuilding the temple and god redeeming and redempton etc., until i feel more comfeterabele with them????

i dont get it, u believe that God created this world, which is so unique and well, not that easy to create, but u doubt God can do other things, for example what i understand from your post, redeeming us and rebuilding the bait hamikdash? Or maybe you do believe that God can do all that, but you think there are still things He cant do?
but is that why u dont want to say the verses about building the beit hamikdash? you dont think He can? i dont get it...

I want to begin by saying that just because you believe in God, does not mean that you must believe in someone else's conception of God. if we followed the majority rule, we would all be christians, because, lets face it, the polytheistic jews out-numbered the monotheistic jews like 1800 years ago.
that having been said, mainstream modern-orthodoxy, or traditional halachic judaism, as i prefer to think of it, has alot of nice ideas about god.
to actually answer your question, i think there is nothing wrong with focusing on the parts of prayer that are the most meaningful and understandable to you. i do think, however, that you should not completely abandon the parts that are less comfortable. i think that while you focus on the parts that make the most sense to you, you should gradually incorporate the other parts, and try to find some meaning for you in those prayers as well.
[This one goes out to all of the MOT's (members of the tribe) in the sunshine state]: God said "let there be light", and FPL said "not until mid-november, we're doing the best we can"
** The Even-Newer Testament, book of Genisis:
in six days God created the universe,
on the seventh day god rested,
on the eight day the federal government created FEMA to undo all of god's creations

dontknow- its really not that black and white. its not that she/he thinks that god can or cant, its jsut that some things are troublesome to believe in even if its not logical.

First of all, i believe we have begun to reutrn to tzion. with God's help we have a state of israel! I believe that we didnt do that entirely on our own, that Hashem helped us... you may believe otherwise f course. now i also dont understand how is it that we are gonna sacrifice animals... it is a bit weird and hard to believe, I mean its a good question, and you should ask a rabbi or something, however we probably wont know for sure until Mashiach comes...

i understand, but really-- we cant even get ten jews to agree on anything trivial-- how is everyone supposed to agree who mashiach is??? maybe there will never person, only the dream... if that's so, does it make sense for anyone to pray for it??/
also- the rambam says there will be no animal sacrifice is the 3rd b"k... how did he daven mussaf?????????

When I was younger I asked me dad the same question (the first one about agreeing on the Mashiach). (not that he is a rabbi or anything but) I asked him what will happen if the mashiach comes but just like in the past people saw he wasnt the mashiach, what if that happens again and everyone 'rebels' against him, only this time it ACTUALLY is the mashiach? And he told me that when the true mashiach comes, everyone will actually realize that he IS the mashiach and no one will be against him, I guess this means we will all agree that he is the mashiach.
I dont think that it is a dream, I mean if it was a dream than what? Our lives would have less meaning. Mine would anyways. No mashiach to look forward to? No Bet Hamikdash? What would be the purpose in our religion? The only purpose would be for the outsiders (or lagoyim) but once we actually get the mashiach is when we are deserving of it, and that is when we are actually ating like an or lagoyim. (hope that made sense).
Last question: I got nothing, sorry.
