hey, has anyone read these books? I just happeend to read the second one "the countdown" this shabbos b/c i was starnded inside from the snow, and it majorly freaked me out, especially lat efirday night before i went to sleep. It was weird - my mom thinks its "hogwash" as she said, and my father thought that its interesting and probably true. some of the stuff like "obelisks, mouth of sea, tip of lisan" (youll understand if you read the book) were kind of irrational and out-there. but the stuff about how sharon, bush, end of days, and arafta are all like intertwined was pretty freaky. also 9/11, bin laden, and terrorist atta, and rabins assasination. pretty scary.
What do you all think?
a bunch of mathematical baloney - or really from God? its really a tought one. they predict the atomic holocaust in 2006...Im not sure about that one - but hey - its possible....i hope the end of days(mashiach) comes soon - it better.

I think that if u need a computer to find things in the torah then its a bit of a stretch. I'm a bit skeptical about the bible codes, yes I've seen them, but it never really hit me.

What, you think everything in the Torah can be seen outright?
What about the whole thing that i think rambam said that everything in the world ever is in the torah somehow.
but you have a point

ok, i realized the way i said things b4 came our really mean and stuff and im sorry, listen what it is is that some ppl believe that the torah has everythign in it from day one and can predict the future. i too believe that but i aslo believe that there are certaint hings that we are not supposed to find. if we were supposed to know the future then palm reading and true astronomy would be halchically allowed

You see all the things it predicts that ended up being true, but you overlook the hundreds of predictions that didnt come true. Its all bs if you ask me.

i think some of it is a load of crock, but on the other hand, it just shows the true power of the Torah. This text hasnt changed for thousands of years and here it is predicting things in our lifetimes. Something to think about

ok guys, i can prove its true. i have a little of my own thing that a rabbi taught me a few years ago. if you want, you can get a pen and paper and do this yourself:
start with "CHAI", that equals 18. now add 12 for the sons of jacob. now your up to 30. multiply that by 5 to honor the 5 books of the torah. that would be 150. then subtract 40 because the jews wondered in the desert for 40 years. so now we are up to 110. ok now add 200 for the years the jews were in egypt. so now its 310. now take away 3 1/2 just for the hell of it. so now we should be at 306.5. now double it because doubling things is good and walla! we are at 613 which equal the taryag mitzvot!

<claps> very nice. I don;t htink thats what the board is referring to though. You need more concrete reasons than "just for the hell of it" to do soemthing like that

hmm...i thought when i said "just for the hell of it", it would become clear that i was joking. i actually got this from one of my friends telling this to one of those young rabbis and my friend just kept going on and on and the rabbi was actually writting it down, it was really funny. anyways, yeah i was joking, i think all of the bible code is bs.
